Tips for cloth diapering away from homeUpdated 8 months ago

When you're out and about with your cloth-diapered little one, managing dirty diapers is pretty straightforward. Here's what you need to do:

First, grab yourself a good wet bag. This is a waterproof bag designed specifically for storing soiled cloth diapers. Look for one made of PUL (polyurethane laminate) fabric with sealed seams to prevent leaks and contain odors.

When it's diaper change time, simply remove the dirty diaper and place it in your wet bag. If there's solid waste, you can shake it off into a toilet if possible, but don't stress if you can't. For exclusively breastfed babies, you don't even need to worry about this step.

Zip up that wet bag tight and tuck it away in your diaper bag. A quality wet bag should keep any smells locked away, so you won't be leaving a trail of diaper odor wherever you go.

Once you're back home, just transfer the contents of your wet bag to your main diaper storage system, whether that's a diaper pail or a larger wet bag. Then, toss the travel wet bag in with your next diaper laundry load to get it clean and fresh for your next outing.

Remember, with a good system in place, dealing with dirty cloth diapers when you're out and about is no big deal. You've got this!
