Leaks at Seams and StitchingUpdated a month ago

Why Are My Cloth Diapers Leaking at the Stitching or Snaps?

Leaks around the stitching or snaps of cloth diaper covers can be frustrating, but they are often caused by a few common factors. Here’s an explanation and some tips to help resolve the issue:

Why Are Leaks Happening?

The stitching points around the seams and snaps can leak if there isn’t adequate absorbency in that area of the diaper. If moisture is not absorbed quickly by the insert and is allowed to press against these areas, leaks can occur. This can happen due to:

  • Compression: Pressure on the diaper (e.g., from sitting or tight clothing) can force moisture out.
  • Insufficient Absorbency: The insert may not hold enough liquid to prevent leaks.
  • Flooding: A large amount of liquid released at once may overwhelm the diaper.

How Can I Fix This?

To minimize leaks, we recommend:

  1. Increasing Absorbency: Add extra inserts or boosters to improve liquid retention.
  2. Changing Diapers More Frequently: Ensure diapers are changed before they become saturated.
